Jeopardy Winner Friday April 19

James Holzhauer won another game on Thursday night’s Jeopardy! broadcast, his 11th in a row, although he “only” won $74,133, a relatively low total for the professional sports gambler from Las Vegas during his jaw-dropping run.

Alex Trebek, 1940 - 2020. Guest Host Schedule. Play Real Jeopardy! Episodes with Jeopardy! Alex Trebek, 1940 - 2020. Alex Jacob (born October 27, 1984) is a former professional poker player and game show contestant. Jacob is perhaps best known in poker for winning the 2006 main event at the United States Poker Championship, a no-limit Texas hold 'em event televised by ESPN.He has also appeared at televised final tables at the World Series of Poker and the World Poker Tour.

His strategy — starting off with the more expensive clues first, betting extremely high amounts on Daily Doubles and also being right a lot — has led him to break the record for single-day winnings, to then break his own record and to shoot up to second on the all-time money list behind the legendary Ken Jennings.

So how does Jennings — who won 74 straight games and won $2,520,700 in the process — feel about the player who’s creating the buzz only matched by Jennings himself?

He also made a really good point about betting on Holzhauer:

It really is “absolutely insane” what Holzhauer is doing, and if you watch the episodes, you can see how it throws off opponents who have to go for the big money clues and watch as Holzhauer nails the answers. Before they can blink, he’s got too much money for them to catch up.

Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category American Rock Bands) for Friday, March 5, 2021 (Season 37, Game 115):

In 2020 their Greatest Hits, with an optimistic ’80s anthem, became only the third album to spend 600 weeks on the Billboard 200

(correct response beneath the contestants)

The Jeopardy! community is mourning the loss of Brayden Smith, who passed away on February 5. The Brayden Smith Memorial Fund has been established, dedicated to furthering the educational aspirations of Southern Nevada students.

Today’s contestants:

Ann Mazzaferro, a high school English & drama teacher from San Andreas, California
Laura Portwood-Stacer, an author & editor originally from Livonia, Michigan
Jim Cooper, a screenwriter from Pacific Palisades, California (1-day total: $17,300)

Andy’s Pregame Thoughts: Jim came back from a spot in the red to find his buzzer mojo in the Double Jeopardy! round and claim victory. He did have six incorrect responses, though—minimizing those will be his key to victory today.

PSA: The best way to keep COVID-19 at bay (and keep Jeopardy! producing new episodes) is for everybody to abide by physical distancing guidelines and when you are not able to do so, properly wear a mask. Ensure that your mask covers both your nose and your mouth.

Jeopardy Winner Friday April 19

Journey’s Greatest Hits album, buoyed by the strength of ’80s anthem “Don’t Stop Believing” (the bane of karaoke hosts worldwide) and other tracks, has spent very significant time on the Billboard 200. Later in the album, “Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)” served as my sign-off song for a time during my bar hosting days; to me, “Separate Ways” is a fitting song as well for the final episode of Mike Richards’ time hosting the show.
